Online Casinos to Advertise on Facebook
Facebook has changed advertising guidelines to allow online casino advertisements.
In a coup for online casinos, mammoth social networking site Facebook has changed its advertising guidelines to allow the posting online casino advertisements.
Previously, the site prohibited online gambling advertisements. Under the new guidelines, online casinos, lotteries, sportbooks, poker rooms and other internet gambling organisations can now advertise on Facebook.
Mobile gaming firms will purportedly also be allowed to advertise on Facebook, although this has not been confirmed.
However, some important restrictions and regulations apply. The advertisements must follow the local laws of the area. Therefore, online casinos are still forbidden to place advertisements targeting American customers, because of the stringent anti-gambling laws there.
As the majority of online casino’s are not based in the US, this restriction will have no great effect. However, American casino affiliates may be disappointed that they cannot target potential new players through Facebook.
The reason for Facebook’s change in advertising policy is unknown. However, the huge revenues it will potentially receive from allowing gambling sites to target its lucrative 18-35 audience undoubtedly played a part in the decision.
